Subway X

Active subwoofer crossover for home cinema, hi-fi and high end

The Subway X is an active subwoofer crossover with an elegant design. In conjunction with a power amplifier and a woofer, the Subway X allows the realization of high performance subwoofer systems. Apart from mono amplifier blocks, it is also possible to use stereo or integrated amplifiers.
Subway X offers many possibilities due to its flexibility in control and connectivity, making it the ideal choice for stereo and surround systems. Available in silver or black.

- subwoofer filter 3rd order, adjustable from 40 - 110Hz
- subwoofer phase, adjustable from 0° - 270°
- low bass booster, adjustable level 0 - 6dB and frequency 20 - 40Hz
- subsonic filter 3rd order at 12Hz
- bypass for subwoofer filter for use with surround decoder
- cinch input
- high power input for the direct connection to power amplifier output
- cinch output "direct out" for signal distribution
- four cinch outputs "sub out" for diverse applications like double mono or bridged mode
- AC socket
- elegant brushed aluminium front
- toroidal transformer for minimal interference
- made in Germany

Excellent workmanship

The front plate is made from 4 mm brushed, anodised aluminium. The knobs are aluminium-coated and finished with a fine structured to offer a better grip than polished knobs.

The printing on the "silver" model is done in black, the one on the black model in flat silver, offering maximum optical contrast in comparison with the usual practice of using white colour on both designs.

Both switches light up in dark red. The power-on LED is blue-coloured.

Wide range of adjustments

The Subway X offers a wide scope of adjustmenst to optimize your subwoofer's performance to any room and personal taste:

Level Sub
Subwoofer level control.

Phase Sub
Phase control in the 0°-270° range for adjusting the acoustic delay between the subwoofer and the main speakers. The range can be extended by 180° to 180°-450°.

Freq Sub
The subwoofer's upper crossover frequency is adjustable from 40Hz-110Hz, if the "subfilter" switch is set to "On".

Level Bass-EQ
The amount of bass boost is adjustable up to +6dB.

Freq Bass-EQ
The bass boost center frequency is adjustable from 20Hz-40Hz.

Subfilter
Set to "On": The Subway X employs its inbuilt subwoofer filters.
Set to "bypass": The internal subwoofer filters are bypassed. All other functions like phase control and bass boost are still active. This setting is most useful when the subwoofer is driven by a surround-decoder's subwoofer output.

All pots offer multiple click-stops, switching contacts are gold-plated.

Connectivity

The Subway X offers signal inputs and outputs in abundance.

High Power In
Using this signal input, the Subway X can be driven by a power amplifier's loudspeaker outputs. This is useful when your setup does not offer preamplifier low level cinch outputs. The amplifier's output power should not exceed 2 x 100 W on 4 ohms.

Line In
Cinch inputs for left and right channel. If your system only offers a mono signal, like a surround decoder does, you should use a Y-adapter (splitter) to make sure both of the Subway X's inputs are used.

Direct Out
This output is connected in parallel with line-in and can be used for daisy-chaining further equipment, like the main power amplifiers for fullrange loudspeakers, for instance. This output is still active even when the Subay X is switched off.

Sub Out A
0°: subwoofer output for the connection to a power amplifer.
180°: phase inverted output for the connection to a power amplifier. This output should be used if you want to extend the phase adjustment to a full 180°-450°. Also, it can be used in conjunction with the 0° output to turn a stereo power amplifier into a more powerful mono bridge - i.e. "bridged mode".

Sub Out B
This output is connected in parallel with Sub Out A and can be used for further power amplifiers. This is useful if you want to realize a double mono subwoofer, for example.

AC socket
Three pole AC mains socket for 220V - 240V / 50Hz - 60Hz
